Mill Vogelenzang
The oldest mention of a windmill in Lieshout dates from 1414.
At that time, the water mill on the Goorloop had been replaced by a windmill.
This mill was a standerd mill, or standard mill, and stood near the Hof.
Some time before 1771 the mill must have been moved from the Molenheide to where Molen Vogelenzang is now.
This mill was still a wooden standerd mill.
In 1805 the mill was sold to Hendrik Ambrosius Swinkels.
The price he paid was 3300 guilders.
In 1817, the wooden standerd mill was blown over during a heavy storm.
Hendrik Swinkels had a stone corn-oil and peel mill built on the same spot.
At the front of the mill there is a stone that commemorates the reconstruction.
The first stone was laid by mayor Ribbius. The mill was also painted several times by Vincent van Gogh.
