Helmond is an ancient city. The striking castle from 1325 in the heart of the city is a reminder of Helmond's medieval origins.
The Zuid-Willemsvaart and the railway brought the city into an industrial acceleration. This industrial past is still clearly visible in the city, especially along 'The Canal', which flows right through the city. It gives the city a unique and robust atmosphere.
The special architecture, such as the famous Cube Houses, Boscotondo and the Brandevoort district and the works of art in the city makes that Helmonders are very proud of their city!
