Monumental house

The ensemble consists of a two-storey house on Kapellaan with an extension on Klokstraat. The house has a rectangular floor plan and a pitched roof with the ridge running parallel to the street. A small extension with a lower gable end has been placed against the right side wall. The front facade has a gable on the right-hand side, with the first floor recessed on the left with a loggia. The building is made of brick, and from the first floor upwards it is plastered and painted white. In the gables to the side of the house, panelled woodwork is visible. At the front, the gable is timbered, and underneath is the inscription "De Klok A.D. 1782".

The roof has an overhang and windbreaks and is covered with Dutch tiles. Above the loggia, the roof rests on wooden posts with decorative iron railings between them. The gable has T- and cross-hung windows, with stained-glass skylights. The segmental arches above the windows and the window sills below them are made of red fire brick. Glazed tiles are applied in the arch fields. The entrance is formed by a panel door.

In front and to the side of the house is a narrow pavement, separated from the street by a wrought-iron fence. At right angles to this building mass, on Klokstraat, is a one-storey commercial building, this part has a rectangular ground plan under a saddle roof. The whole protrudes a little from the side wall of the house.

The industrial building is made of cement stone and has an imitation rusticated plinth. The top of the façade has a mousetooth, executed in red brick that continues around the gables. The roof is covered with Dutch tiles. The gable adjacent to the house is stepped.

The side wall contains four wide arched windows with a red brick mullion and segmental arch. The frames are made of metal and have inset windows. In the rear façade, there are low windows under a segmental arch; the arch field is tiled.

The industrial building with extension and fencing is of general importance. The building is of cultural-historical importance as an example of the socio-economic development of the bell-foundry and clock-making industry and as an example of the typological development of buildings for this branch of industry. It is of architectural-historical importance because of its style and the special combination of building materials. The building is also important because of the integrity of the exterior. It is rare because of its design and construction.
