Hamlet Boomen te Lierop
hamlet of Boomen; This hamlet is a protected townscape and is a typical example of the origin of a farmland village. The first Boomsche hoof dates from 1254 and fell under the authority of Postel Abbey. After the Peace of Munster in 1648, the farm came to the State. In 1740 the state treasurer of spiritual goods sold the Boomen farm to the public. In the 19th century, the hamlet was further expanded and now consists of 7 old and 3 new farms. Boomen received the status of a protected townscape in March 1996, with five farms listed as national monuments. The disappeared farms were also rebuilt. A striking feature is the centuries-old lime tree, where a statue of the Virgin Mary was placed in 1946, as a thank you for the fact that no war victims have fallen in this hamlet.
