In parenting, it seems very simple: you take care of your child with love and attention and things will probably work themselves out. But what if, in practice, it doesn't work so simply? What if your child has a diagnosis like autism, giftedness, ADHD or some other neurodiversity? How does it work then? What do you run into? And how do you survive parenthood when you come up against doors of misunderstanding?

In parenting, it seems very simple: you take care of your child with love and attention and things will probably work themselves out. But what if, in practice, it doesn't work so simply? What if your child has a diagnosis like autism, giftedness, ADHD or some other neurodiversity? How does it work then? What do you run into? And how do you survive parenthood when you come up against doors of misunderstanding?

De Lage Beemden Library is holding an information evening in the Meeting Centre. This evening, parenting expert and author Janneke van Bockel will be our guest. Janneke wrote books such as ‘Ijskastmoeder’ and ‘Uitlegmoeder’, in which she gives a candid insight into her family. She describes parenthood and learning to cope with autism, the challenges you inevitably face as a parent and the relationship with all kinds of experts you get for free as parents.

Together with Janneke and various professionals/experts by experience, they engage in a conversation. They will discuss the search for the right guidance, raising your child in a world where neurodiversity is not always understood and how to prevent losing yourself in this as a parent. Are you coming? The evening will take place in the Meeting Centre in Beek en Donk. Please register via the website.
