Richard Beeren Memorial

Bigband Nuenen will hold the first Richard Beeren Memorial, a special tribute to musician and trumpeter Richard Beeren, who died in September 2023 after a short illness. The event will take place at Café hall Bij Van Dijk in Aarle-Rixtel.

Richard Beeren was an inspiring and versatile musician, who took many bands and big bands to a higher musical level during his career. After his death, the idea came about to organise an annual memorial to keep his musical legacy alive. This year, three reunion bands in which Richard was the musical director will perform: Pauwkes Jazz Orkest, Sonic Blast Bigband and Bigband Nuenen.

Pauwkes Jazz Orkest from Beek en Donk, which once performed at the famous Pauwkes Jazz Corner, will perform their contemporary jazz sounds. Sonic Blast Bigband, of which Richard has been conductor since 1994, is known for their dynamic and energetic jazz. Under his direction, they won several awards and played at prestigious festivals such as the Montreux Jazz Festival. Bigband Nuenen, the last band of which Richard was musical director, will also make its presence felt. In between performances, a special combo, consisting of befriended musicians, will provide additional musical entertainment.
