Tot 2013 was hier een oude sluis van ruim 180 jaar oud. De nieuwe, huidige sluis is aangelegd voor de komende honderd jaar.
Until 2013, there was an old lock here that was over 180 years old. The new, current lock was built for the next 100 years. An important function of the new lock is flood defence. The difference in height between the canal in Helmond and Aarle-Rixtel is considerable. Hence, there is a lock between them to accommodate that difference in height. The new lock also allows boats to pass through it.
