At Oranjeplein 1c in Mariahout, Wendy Beniers and Jolanda Verbakel have started AanDagtig; a day care centre, but also a coffee point with something tasty for the village.

AanDagtig is a day care centre for special people. This may be for people, both young and old, with a mental disability or mild dementia, but also for people who fall a bit between the cracks in terms of work/activities. In addition, the day care centre will also provide an opportunity to drink a cup of coffee.

Sitting at home is no fun for anyone. The intention is that clients will, for example, help with serving coffee, wrapping chocolates or being creative. We look at what fits everyone and what they like to do. Everyone is welcome, it is especially important that they feel comfortable and at ease in a safe environment.

Jolanda, who got a multiple handicapped son 23 years ago and is co-founder of the Laarhuys in Lieshout, and Wendy, who has been working in care for handicapped people for 26 years, already have the necessary experience in the sector. That part of giving people a nice day suits them very well. That hug gives them so much energy and the smile on their face is priceless.

Wendy and Jolanda have given the name Aandagtig with a 'G' a lot of thought. Aandagtig means attentive in Afrikaans; they pay attention to the people who come and to their clients. Many people see the limitations, but we see the possibilities. We are also always looking for challenges and giving up is not in our dictionary. In addition, 'Dag' is written with a capital letter, as they offer day care.

AanDagtig is intended to remain small-scale.

"From our work we notice that clients really like that. A number of people have already expressed an interest in day care, but we are still looking for clients and of course for volunteers who would like to help. They can contact us via hallo@aandagtig.nl. Both clients with a PGB and a WMO indication are welcome. If people have questions about this or have difficulty with the administration surrounding it, we can help. We have a lot of experience in that.

For now, we are open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. It is possible that this will be extended in the future.
