What would this landscape have looked like 425 years ago? Would the buzzards also hover over this heath in 1595? Was that heath already there? Yes, of course, it has been around for centuries. In this area, on the Strabrechtse Heide and the surrounding villages, only five women's lives were persecuted for witches. Castle lords who reinforce their delusions about witches with instruments of torture and funeral pyres. Or was it mainly the exorcism of their fear of independent women, their fear of the mostly unmarried, childless fellow villagers that remained elusive for them?
