Bed & Breakfast Het Maagdenhuis
The Wijkgebouw/Maagdenhuis is a unique building in Asten. Every Asten resident has fond memories of this building. Following World War II, people in Asten agreed that the village needed a community building.
It is a striking building in a special spot in Asten. Although located in the centre, just 300 meters from the market, the house sits in an oasis of greenery and tranquillity, opposite the Moussault Park and off the beaten track. The name 'Maagdenhuis' was introduced by Piet van der Zanden, the editor of the local newspaper "Peelbelang". Seven spinsters used to live in the residential house next to the community building. Before they got married, these ladies worked as teachers at the housekeeping school or as neighbourhood nurses in Asten.
