This post mill is over five centuries old, but technically only one beam, the post, remains of the original mill. This is a long, straight beam around which the entire upper part of the mill can be turned into the wind.   Other parts of the characteristic wooden framework, located at the Molenweg, are younger.

The mill has gone through quite a lot over the years. It has been largely destroyed twice. The mill got blown over by strong winds in the 18th century, and in 1970, only a few years after a large-scale restoration, it burnt down.   Most of the mills in the area are about one hundred years old. A century ago, it was quite common to name the mills, but in the Middle Ages, it was less common.

It wasn’t until 2006, with celebration of the quincentenary, that the mill was named for the first time in its existence: "de Oostenwind" (east wind).

The maximum number of people is generally 20-25 people. The tour lasts 1 hour. The cost for a guided tour is €5 per person.
