The old district building that previously stood here was built in 1954. One of the initiators of the construction of the White Yellow Cross building was doctor Eijnatten, the village doctor of Someren. This building was demolished by the demolition hammer, but fortunately the stained glass windows by the Deurnese artist Pieter Wiegersma were preserved. They are three windows, full of symbolism and have four titles. The left window is titled hygiene, the large middle window is vigilance and science, and the right window is titled trust.
These old stained glass windows were given a new place in 2010 in the new health center Het Wijkgebouw.

These old stained glass windows were given a new place in 2010 in the new health center Het Wijkgebouw.

The left window, hygiene: a phoenix rising from the flames (the Greeks believed that the phoenix was able to be reborn from its own ashes over and over again) and a figure with a palm branch (symbol of victory over death), behind it a sunflower (symbolizes the sun and stands for awareness and always turns to the sun) with a ray of light downwards and to the right a snake (death viper, symbol for evil) lurking.

The large central window, vigilance: a figure looking in a mirror (attention, reflection and in the Christian world all creation is seen as a mirror image of God) and a burning torch (provides heat and light. The torch is a powerful symbol for the moral issues. The light, warmth and knowledge must be passed on. Who carries the torch?). In science: an apple tree (symbol of seduction and beauty, love and eroticism, fertility and immortality. In the Christian world it stands for sin and temptation. The tree of good and evil) and a figure with a sphere in which a triangle (symbol for science, alchemy). The figure on the right stands “on” a snake (symbol for poison and healing or for life and death). Around it some doves (symbolizing loyalty and redeemed souls, and peace). Between the two figures a rooster (vigilance).

The right window, trust: a figure releasing a bird (dove?) and holding an anchor (gives trust and is a sign of hope. In Hebrews 6, hope is called an anchor for the soul) and a ship (which gives man to holy harbor). At his feet chalice-like red flowers (red stands for vitality and love and energy). The flowers resemble erect foxglove, which stands for regularity. But it can also be red lilies that refer to innocence. Bird, flowers and ship irradiated by the present sun, to the right of the sun a starry night sky. At the bottom right a fish (ancient Christian symbol).
