Frank Doucette Monument in the Frank Doucettestraat: The 'Frank Doucette Monument' in Lierop (municipality of Someren) is a memorial stone with an image of the Dutch and American flag in relief. The stone is placed on a base of pebbles and red brick. In September 1974, the monument containing gravestone was unveiled. Frank Doucette is an American aviator †19-09-1944. The inscription on the memorial stone reads:

Memorial Frank Doucette

This memorial was erected in 1974 in memory of the American gunner Frank E. Doucette, who fell on September 19, 1944 in Lierop during the Second World War. 

From the end of 1943 to September 21, 1944, there was a well-hidden hiding camp “Dennenlust” in the woods near Lierop under Moorsel. Several dozen people in hiding were hiding there; Dutchmen and shot down allied pilots: English, a Pole, a Canadian and Americans. Sergeant Frank Doucette was one of them. He was a gunner for an American B-17 bomber. Doucette's aircraft was shot down over Eindhoven on 9 August 1944. The wounded gunner ended up in the hiding camp.

During the operation “Market Garden” Frank joined the resistance. Towards the end of the war, the men increasingly undertook expeditions in small groups against the surrounding Germans. They imprisoned NSB members who had betrayed people in hiding and carried out a sabotage action on a railway line. On September 19, 1944, an ambush was staged with a machine gun stolen from the Germans. Doucette, who was an air gunner after all, wanted to come along. Frank loaded the machine gun calling out; 'I'll put in a band of a hundred' and immediately there was a rumble from the Germans.
