The Seniorenorkest, part of Harmonie St Caecilia Lieshout - Mariahout, will musically enliven the church service at Onze Lieve Vrouw van Lourdes church in Mariahout on Christmas Day.
The Senior Orchestra, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, consists of 25 musicians from the Lieshout area. With its varied repertoire, the orchestra entertains audiences on many occasions. But making music is not only fun for the audience, the musicians themselves also enjoy it very much. Apart from its varied music, the Senior Orchestra also has beautiful carried music in its repertoire. This also enables it to make its musical contribution of other kinds, including church services. On Christmas Day, for instance, the Senior Orchestra provided musical accompaniment during the celebration in the Mariahout church of Our Lady of Lourdes of the parish of Blessed Father Eustachius, which by the way seems to have become a tradition by now. The orchestra has been rehearsing the music for this service for several weeks. Besides a lot of Christmas music, a number of beautiful carried pieces of music will also be played, such as Anton Bruckner's Locus Iste Chorale, better known as the Bruckner Chorale, Air for Winds by André Waignein and the well-known piece Mood Romantic by Johan Nijs.
The service will be presided over by deacon Ton Schepens.
