Death Valley Cycling Route Helmond C
Death Valley De Peel
The term Death Valley De Peel refers to the intense air and ground battles in De Peel between 1940-1945. It is also the name of a large-scale project that celebrated "75 years of freedom" in 2019-2020.
This project was made possible by Innovatiehuis De Peel, Waterschap Aa en Maas, and Brabant Remembers. The corresponding cycling routes were initiated by the Death Valley De Peel project group from Museum Klok & Peel in Asten and realized with indispensable contributions from local history societies, tourist offices (VVVs), tourism organizations, and Traces of War.
The cycling routes were developed through a unique collaboration between seven municipalities in Brabant's Peel region, complemented by four neighboring municipalities in Limburg. The result is 400 km of cycling pleasure through the beautiful nature of De Peel, linked to over 100 points of interest that commemorate World War II.
